The Engineering
The Braun Series 9 Pro+ centres on the AutoSense motor — a linear drive system that samples beard density 80 times per second via resistance measurement and modulates power output accordingly. When the motor senses increased resistance (a denser patch of beard), it automatically increases cutting force to maintain consistent output. When resistance drops, power reduces. The result is consistent shave closeness across varied beard density without any user adjustment required.
The 5-element SyncroSonic cutting head is the most complex blade architecture in consumer shaving. Two specialised trim elements — one HyperLift&Cut trimmer for flat-lying hairs, one micro-comb for stubble — work in conjunction with three broad foil cutting elements. All five elements are synchronised, oscillating in coordinated phase to prevent the interference vibrations that reduce efficiency in simpler 3-element designs.
Titanium blade coating is the premium tier in Braun's metallurgy. Titanium's hardness (Vickers ~800 HV versus stainless steel's ~200 HV) means edge retention is significantly extended. Braun rates Series 9 Pro+ blades for replacement at 18 months versus 12 months for standard steel — a meaningful practical difference that offsets some of the premium cost over time.
The ProDock cleaning station uses a fluid cartridge containing alcohol (cleaning agent), castor oil (lubricant) and corrosion inhibitor. The 5-action process: clean, lubricate, charge, dry, hygiene. Cartridges last approximately 30 cleaning cycles, at a cost of roughly $12 per cartridge.

Who It's For
Best for: Daily shavers | Sensitive skin (reduced direct blade contact) | Straight beard growth | Men who want absolute maximum closeness | Those who value automatic maintenance and zero daily friction.
Not for: Budget-conscious buyers | Rotary preference users | Occasional shavers who won't recoup the premium | Men with complex, multi-directional beard growth who would benefit more from rotary contour-following.
